Rodents
At Wow Pest Control, we specialize in rodent control services. We identify the rodent population during inspection and provide a quote for trapping services. We also do our best to identify how they are entering into your home and recommend that you hire a licensed contractor to seal entry points to prevent the rodents from entering your home again in the future.
Types of rodents:
Roof Rats:
Are you hearing noises coming from your attic or the inside of your walls? You may be hearing movement or gnawing from roof rats. Roof rats are usually around 16″ long and have a tail that is longer than their head and body combined. They are usually light gray to dark black in color and have a pointed nose. You know they’re there by sounds they make or by seeing their droppings which are pointed at the ends. Wow Pest Control will inspect your home and do our best to identify possible entry points and conducive conditions. We may also recommend that you hire a licensed construction contractor to seal any openings that are found.
Norway Rats:
Norway rats are found lower than the Roof Rats. They prefer to stay on the ground and usually enter a home or business at the first floor level. They are also around 16″ long but have a body that is bigger than their tail and their nose is blunt at the end. Their droppings are also blunt on the ends. They usually enter the garage or house through a door that is missing weather-stripping or a door sweep
House Mice:
House mice look like a smaller version of the roof rat. Their tail is larger than their head and body combined and have a pointed nose. Their droppings have pointed ends and are very small. Their droppings can sometimes be confused with roach droppings.
Rodent Prevention Tips:
- Ensure that there are no openings the size of 1/4″ or larger leading into your home or business. Rats can enter where there is a hole the size of a quarter. Mice can enter where there is an opening the size of a dime.
- Keep trees trimmed away from the structure.
- Pick up fruit that has fallen from all fruit trees.
- Declutter as much as possible on the exterior to avoid creating a home for rodents to live.
